Our Company
MerchTees was started by two guys, Joren and Dave, who share a passion for t-shirts and art. Six years ago, we launched a custom shirt business and quickly realized there are countless creatives and small businesses that would love to offer shirts to their fans, customers, and employees.
The problem? If you’re not familiar with the t-shirt world, getting shirts printed is a real hassle. Then you have to set up a website, handle orders, manage customers, process payments, and deal with inventory. For anyone just trying to get some shirts for their business, friends, or fans, it can be a headache. You need a simple way to launch your shirts without all the associated stress.
When we looked at other platforms, we saw two big issues. First, most of them leave little profit for the creative. On a good day, you might make $2–$3 per shirt, and payments often happen just once a month. We solved these issues by setting a flat rate for all goods and letting you decide the price. For example, if you price your shirt $6 above the flat rate, you’ll earn $6 per sale. If your art sells at the higher end of the market, you can make a significant profit on each shirt. Second, we pay out daily. As soon as a customer’s payment clears our fraud check (usually within minutes), your earnings are sent the next business day. This creates a steady income stream instead of a monthly payout.
We also noticed that most upload processes are overly complicated. Setting up your art on shirts can feel like taking on a new job. That’s why we worked hard to create an intuitive and smooth upload experience. Simply upload your PNG or JPG, size and position it on the shirt, opt out of any colors or styles you don’t want, and set your price. Finally, we realized most platforms aren’t designed with creatives in mind. Sure, you can upload your shirts, but once they’re on the site, you’re buried in a sea of other creators. At MerchTees, you’ll get your own personal page and unique URL (e.g., www.merchtees.me/john-doe-art). Personalize your page with your logo, write a bio about yourself or your company, and make it your own. While custom templates and color options are coming soon, your personal page ensures your fans aren’t distracted by other creators or companies. Plus, you can make your page private so only those you choose can view or order your shirts.
